Agricultural and forestry land reclaiming: A guide to good practices
Can local commitment become an international key?
The development of local production is one of the keys to maintaining the quality of life of territories and their dynamism. Local productions have good market prospects and many European and non-European countries are investing huge resources in local supply chains. Starting with the cultivation of chestnuts and the promotion of the wood sector, our territory also needs to rediscover its local added values in order to look beyond the horizon.
The cooperation project is organised around three parallel operations: the reconstitution and promotion of land to promote agricultural or forestry production potential; the processing, promotion, and marketing of local products, in particular those related to the fruit chestnut tree; and support for new agricultural settlements to encourage young generations of farmers to remain or arrive in the area.

LAG actions
Census of chestnut-growing potential
For the action on land promotion, our LAG is in charge of monitoring the census of chestnut-growing potential in the Susa Valley and Val Pellice.
Good Practice Guide
For the enhancement of local production, our LAG is working to stimulate farms to improve products for the end user, with the aim of creating an economic margin on local produce. This activity will result in a guide of good practices, collected at cross-border level.
Working groups
For the operation to support new settlements, our LAG will organise exchanges between students and sector professionals on the theme of “chestnut groves” and set up a cross-border working group on local products, involving public bodies, trade associations and teachers.
